Paint removal – Understand the basics

Stripping the paint from exterior walls is an arduous task. The process is also harmful for the bricks if it not carried out in the correct way. Since bricks bear many tiny pores, they rapidly absorb the paint making it utterly difficult to remove. The traditional way adopted for paint removal is through sandblasting and pressure washing. However, within these methods, there is always a chance the bricks can be destroyed making replacement inevitable. This eventually disturbs the budget of the project also. Follow these simple steps when taking on the task of paint removal.

Paint Removal

Firstly clean the walls with soapy water, gently scrub the paint away using a bristled brush. The brush will remove stains, and all other marks. After the scrubbing is completed, wash the walls with clean water, and leave it to dry. Once dry, dilute the paint remover with the required amount of water, preferably into a bucket. Dab the solution with a clean brush over the wall starting from the top towards the bottom.

Then soak the solution from the wall using a piece of fabric by pressing it gently against the wall. Once the fabric is completely wet with the solution, peel it off the walls. Repeat this process one more time, and then rinse the wall using slow water pressure for paint removal.
